Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
